NEW UPDATES:
1. This Thursday, the 24th is the orientation/informational meeting for the rapid HIV testing training. Attending this meeting does not mean you have to volunteer; it’s just an opportunity to hear more and decide if you wish to volunteer. The Enid Community Clinic will begin to offer rapid HIV testing and they have asked us for help finding some volunteers to go through the brief training and be willing to serve a small amount of time each month to provide this testing service to clients. This is a swab test, no needles involved and no prior medical experience is needed. Maria Srouji-Hall, Oklahoma State Department of Health, Division of Prevention and Intervention, will discuss HIV testing/counseling and other services that can be provided to the Enid area. Sunshine Schillings of the Oklahoma AIDS Care Fund, will discuss resources/assistance that can be provided to the Enid area. The meeting on the 24th will be held at NWOSU-Enid Campus at 5:00 p.m. The address is 2929 East Randolph, Enid – in room 131.
2. The Enid SPCA has voiced a need for more dog food donations. Some of us wanted to make those donations in the name of Enid LGBT Coalition. If you would like to donate a bag of dog food as well, you can bring it to the Thursday meeting at NWOSU, or contact Kristi Balden on her cell at 580-541-6810 to arrange a drop off time at her house.
3. OKC Pride is in full swing and finishing up this weekend. Tulsa Pride is coming soon, June 2nd and 3rd and because they played such an important role in helping with Enid Pride last year, we wanted to make a good showing there if at all possible. If you would like to attend, and/or be in or provide a carpool, please send us an email, or call us at 1-800-878-5298 for arrangements.
4. We’re ready to order Enid LGBT Coalition t-shirts, and we hope to order the first run by the end of this week. The goal is to have the t-shirts ordered by this Thursday evening, so we can have them in time to wear to Tulsa Pride. We don’t have a guarantee that they will be done by next Friday, but we’re going to try! How awesome would it be to represent Enid with everyone in their new Coalition t-shirts?!
